How to correct text in a PDF without the original file
What Paperlane can replace, and where PDF editing reaches its limits.
Confirm the text is selectable
Open the PDF and try to select the text that needs correction. If the page is a photo or scan, the editor cannot rewrite those pixels as words.
Choose words or a whole line
Choose Word mode for a small change or Whole line for a larger replacement. Check your font and size settings and apply the edit before continuing to the next page. Long replacements do not automatically reflow surrounding paragraphs.
Preview the saved document
Review the exported PDF carefully, especially spacing and unusual fonts. This feature is for legitimate document corrections and is not a secure way to erase confidential information.
