From PDF to editable words.
A practical guide to converting PDFs, and what happens to your formatting.
Start with the right approach
A digital PDF usually contains selectable text. Paperlane extracts that text and places it in a Word document, keeping page breaks so you can work through the document one page at a time.
Know what changes
PDFs describe page appearance, not the structure of a Word document. Columns, tables, images and detailed formatting are not reconstructed by this text-only converter. For a resume or a designed brochure, edit the original source document when possible.
Check, save, and carry on
A scanned PDF is a collection of pictures. It requires optical character recognition (OCR) to turn those pictures into text. OCR is not part of this tool, so an image-only document will display a helpful message instead of an empty download.
