SMALLER FILES

A smaller PDF, without the guesswork.

When to optimize, when to compress, and how to keep your document readable.

Start with the right approach

Start with lossless optimization when you need searchable text, working links or interactive forms. It rewrites the document efficiently without turning pages into pictures. Some PDFs are already optimized, so the file may not get smaller.

Know what changes

For scanned documents, image compression often helps more. It renders each page to a JPEG and builds a new PDF. Choose balanced quality first and check small text before sharing. The output no longer contains selectable text or interactive elements.

Check, save, and carry on

Always keep the original document. If your upload portal has a strict limit, compare the final size against it before submitting. There is no universal compression percentage: savings depend on the content of the original file.
